The Filipino-American Ministry of St. Raphael Church was established in 1996.
Its primary goal is “to bear witness to the Catholic Christian faith, serving God through service to others, by creating a fellowship for Filipino-American parishioners of St. Raphael Church through involvement in various parish ministries, utilizing unique culture and traditions to foster unity and solidarity with the rest of the parish community.”
The ministry started with twenty member families and now has one hundred fifty member families. It functions under the umbrella of St. Raphael Church.
The Filipino-American Ministry organizes and sponsors activities and events year-round. Many of the activities are intended to raise funds to benefit various religious and philanthropic causes namely, St. Raphael Church, Diocesan Catholic Ministries Appeal, Philippine Jesuit Foundation, several seminaries in the Philippines and the USA and charitable institutions. Other activities are to foster camaraderie, friendship and unity among members and supporters, like the annual summer picnic. As part of the religious and faith enrichment contribution and support to St. Raphael Parish, The ministry has built the Garden Shrine of St. Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila in 2017 and St. Pedro Calungsod in 2021 on parish grounds. Yearly, the ministry celebrates the Feast of Filipino Saints , Sts. Lorenzo Ruiz and Pedro Calungsod , in September and the Parish Christmas Dinner-Dance in December.
